As part of the 37th birthday celebrations of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya - Royal Patron of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra – the 2024 season will get off to a truly amazing start with the visit of two stellar classical musicians who are dominating the great stages of the world today. German-Canadian cello soloist Johannes Moser and South Korean conducting maestro Sunwook Kim will collaborate with the RBSO in two towering masterpieces of the Romantic era - Dvořák’s mighty Cello Concerto in B minor and Tchaikovsky’s enchanting Symphony No. 1 in G minor, popularly known as “Winter Daydreams”.

Born in 1979, Moser was the top prize-winner at the 2002 Tchaikovsky Competition, also receiving the Special Prize for his interpretation of the Rococo Variations. Gramophone magazine picked him out as "one of the finest among the astonishing gallery of young virtuoso cellists", and he has appeared with the world’s elite orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia, and Cleveland Orchestras, with A-list conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta, Christian Thielemann, Pierre Boulez, and Gustavo Dudamel.

Born in 1988, Kim came to international recognition when he won the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition in 2006, aged just eighteen. The competition’s youngest winner for four decades, as well as its first Asian winner, his performance of Brahms’s Concerto No.1 with the Hallé Orchestra deservedly won the highest adulation. He has since fully conquered the piano world, performing with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony, and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for his BBC Proms debut in Summer 2014. Now also making an impressive impact as a conductor on the podium, he has recently been appointed Music Director of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra in his home country.
