In 1862 Thailand began most fruitful diplomatic ties with Germany, and 160 years later this relationship is as treasured as ever. To celebrate this noteworthy milestone, the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Michel Tilkin will perform an inspiring programme of towering German symphonic masterpieces. Also Sprach Zarathustra (Thus Spake Zarathustra) by Richard Strauss is truly one of the most exciting works in the late Romantic period repertoire, themed on philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s concept of the Übermensch - the all powerful, indestructible ‘superman.’ The incumbent Chairman of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra is the successful, prominent German businessman and philanthropist Mr. Harald Link. An extremely important German figure living in Thailand since his youth, he is the CEO of B. Grimm Group, a huge family run Bangkok based multinational conglomerate which was founded 144 years ago in 1878.
